A hot bath

Leaving towards Dominica now so no time for much updates but here's a sneak peak of our wonderful day in Soufriere the other day. We had a shower and bath in hot water coming out of the volcano, was amazing!

Morning trek

We've been out trekking in a rainforest all morning, swam in a natural hot mineral bath made by a waterfall and got pain and bruised by all that walking up and down the volcanic mountains but more about all that later. We're just crossing the channel between St Lucia and Martinique and if we arrive in a moderately early time I might have some energy left to show you some pics from today and some other interesting things we've been up to these past ten days. One night in St Lucia

We're glad that we have had the chance to revisit St Lucia at various occasions while waiting for deliveries etc as that island has much more of cultural entertainment and a somewhat warmer evening ambiance to boast with than Martinique. Martinique might be interesting for several other reasons but for getting in touch with the local culture, devouring in musical experiences and to reach the core of the identity of a state, St Lucia has shown to be much more fulfilling. Here's two short clips from one of those nights in St Lucia. Amazing drummer, that old man, isn't he? /T

Gros Islet

We dropped the hook in Pigeon Island, St Lucia on Sunday afternoon. As we've already explored a bit of Rodney Bay for some weeks ago and as it is like any other harbor in the world, we decided to leave further into the Gros Islet Quarter to discover something more St Lucian. And what a wonderful little town we found. Small colorful colonial houses scattered all over the quarter side by side with tiny houses built by simple wooden planks. Dogs and hens and kids ran lazily around the streets and reaggeaton music sounded from every point of direction. This is the real Caribbean! There were plentiful of local bars and restaurants and we were the only "tourists" in the whole neighborhood as far as we could understand. Just a place in our taste. We had some grilled chicken served straight off the street by a sweet lady who told us stories about her 20 year old son who just left the village for New York City. We ended the day with a long promenade through town until the sun went down and then back all the way to Pigeon Island through horse paddocks and sandy beaches. Inspiring place, refreshing walk - can't wait to see more of this particular style on the different Caribbean islands. /T

Morning in Marigot Bay

We took a short weekend trip from Southern Martinique over to St Lucia to visit Marigot Bay and Rodney Bay once again. Luc and Nicole, our new friends from Belgium, invited us for a dinner in Marigot Bay last night and shared with us their stories of Mr Bernard Moitessier, as they knew him the years before he passed away in the beginning of the 90s. Fascinating man, the man of the myth. A lovely dinner was enjoyed on the cozy Rainforest Hideaway in the end of the bay - with live music and a beautiful atmosphere. Thanks guys for a great night! /Taru
